The Morning Questions
Do you ever wake up in the morning and wonder; what exactly is the purpose of my work? Do you wake up and feel excited to start your day? Are you motivated to represent the organization you work for?
Alignment
Most of us tend to encounter these questions or a variety of them throughout our career. There can be many reasons, however we have to look in one direction. Alignment. Alignment is one of the main ingredients to experiencing a strong relationship with your employer. To feel fully aligned, you must clearly understand the mission, vision and resonate with the values of the company. Your managers and leaders must inspire you to give it your best, even during the worst of days.
This comes from proper communication. Communication plays several important roles within a company and one of those roles is internal communication. The communication team must understand the people in the organization. Not on a general scale but have a more precise picture of who their people are, from department to department.
It’s their job to communicate to their people, what the mission, vision, and values are of the company. You have to be able to apply the goals of the organization to your objectives, you have to understand what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. This feeds into engagement.
Is it time for Change?
When you wake up in the morning and ask yourself these very real questions. Perhaps it’s time to consider what your organization is doing to motivate your movements. Have you lost touch with the purpose of your work? Have you lost that purpose that you felt when you first started (or never felt)? Maybe it’s time to review your aspirations and realign yourself with a company that represents your values, a company that you can confidently get behind based on their strategic goals.
